Friday afternoon. A big city bank. A demand note is given to the teller. According to FBI statistics, this is the most likely scenario for bank robberies.
As in many past years, Friday afternoon remains the most popular day and time for bank robberies, according to the latest FBI statistics.
In 2023, there were over 1,300 bank robberies, burglaries, and larcenies across the United States, with most bank robberies occurring in the early afternoon on Fridays.
Fifty-four of these incidents turned violent, involving guns, assaults, or even explosives.
Of the more than 800 suspects identified in these bank robberies, 26 percent were drug users, and 30 percent had previous convictions for bank crimes.
The FBI further breaks down the data, showing that branch offices in commercial districts are most likely to be targeted, with suspects typically approaching the counter with a note.
Additionally, there were 43 armored car heists in 2023, most of which occurred on Mondays.
