Law enforcement is asking the public to be on the lookout for an incarcerated man who escaped from a reentry program facility in Los Angeles County on Sunday.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) identified the man as 45-year-old Herber Ramosrauda.
According to CDCR’s release, it was at 2:53 p.m. when officials were alerted of Ramosrauda’s disappearance from the Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) facility.
Staff then conducted an emergency count and confirmed that Ramosrauda was missing.
Officials did not immediately specify exactly how Ramosrauda escaped other than the fact that he “walked away” from the facility.
As of Sunday night, Ramosrauda’s last known location was near Wilshire Boulevard and S. Bonnie Brae Street in Los Angeles.
Ramosrauda was last seen wearing a gray sweater, gray pants and a red backpack, according to the release. He is described as a Hispanic male who stands 5 feet and 6 inches tall, weighs about 160 pounds and has black hair and brown eyes.
CDCR said Ramosrauda was received from Los Angeles County on May 13, 2024, to serve a three-year sentence for second-degree robbery.
“The MCRP allows eligible incarcerated individuals nearing the end of their sentences to serve the remainder of their time in a reentry center,” explained the department. “This voluntary program is for males who have two years or less left to serve.”
Anyone who sees Ramosrauda or has knowledge of his whereabouts is asked to immediately contact law enforcement, call 911 or OCS Special Agent, Andrew Meyers at 661-440-8477.
