Anyone looking for a wild horse or burro to call their own can adopt one from local law enforcement on Saturday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Mounted Enforcement Detail, in concert with the U.S. Department of the Interior Bureau of Land Management’s Ridgecrest Regional Wild Horse and Burro Corrals, are offering horses and burros for adoption.
A total of 17 animals remain available for adoption Saturday after “a successful first day” of adoptions on Friday, LASD said. This year marks the second iteration of the department’s wild horse and burro adoption event.
It is being held on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Industry Hills Expo Center, located at 16200 Temple Avenue in the City of Industry.
Adoptions are by a first come, first serve basis, and applications are approved on site. Those who adopt will need to pay an adoption fee of $125.
To streamline the adoption process, fill out an application beforehand by visiting the Bureau of Land Management’s website.
