Officers found an illegal firearm after stopping a pickup truck at UCLA, campus police said Wednesday.
The gun was found during what was described as a routine traffic stop in the Sproul Hall area on campus, the UCLA Police Department posted on X.
During the stop, police said “the driver voluntarily disclosed the presence of an illegal firearm in the vehicle.” It was unclear what led officers to initially conduct the traffic stop.
An image of the snub-nosed revolver was shared by UCLA police in an image uploaded to the post.
No further details regarding the suspect or why the gun was brought to campus were provided.
The unidentified person involved in the incident was taken into custody.
There was no word on what charges the suspect may be facing.
