An iconic noughties band are kick starting 2025 by making a huge comeback in January by releasing a new album, their seventh.
The Kooks, who shot to fame in 2006 with their hits Naive, Ooh La and You Don’t Love Me, are also set to perform a number of live dates across the UK.
The band made up of singer Luke Pritchard, guitarist Hugh Harris and drummer Alexis Nunez, have reportedly gone back to their old sound for the new tracks and ‘nailed’ it.
A source told The Sun: ‘The Kooks are back and their new album is electric. They have gone back to their breakthrough sound and have come up with some nailed-on hits.
‘When they went into the studio, they had no expectations and were just having fun.
‘But they’ve come out with a brilliant album. Some of the tracks are really reminiscent of the songs from their early records. And they can’t wait for their fans to hear them.’

Last year The Kooks responded to a viral TikTok cover of their biggest hit in the best way possible.
The Indie band edited themselves into a clip of musician Calum Bowie performing the song.
Calum, who boasted 423k followers on TikTok, is known for singing songs with his guitar from his window in Edinburgh.
The original video saw Calum receiving a scrunched up £20 from a passerby on the street below who was impressed by his version of the song.
He told the onlooker he wasn’t actually busking and that they didn’t need to give him anything, but when the fan wouldn’t take no for an answer he continued singing and smiling.
The Kooks came across the fan’s video and decided to get involved in the action by editing themselves into the clip.
The band, who looked unrecognisable, managed to make it seem as if they were the ones trying to give Calum the cash from the street below.
Calum was shocked to see The Kooks stitch his video and commented: ‘No wayyy. This is absolute gold.’
Fans were thrilled to see the hilarious video on social media, writing: ‘This is awesome!’
‘This has got to be the best stitch ever made; This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen; I actually love yous so much, one of my fav bands ever; Those guys r so cute.’
