LANDOVER, Md. (DC News Now) —The Washington Commanders fans have lots to cheer about this season. Right now, the team is 3-1 and plays at home Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.
Most of the hype and excitement surrounds quarterback Jayden Daniels, who has been on fire leading his team to victories.
At the Commanders Team Store Friday, Daniels’s jerseys were hot sellers flying off the shelves. Fan Zee Grantham was one of dozens who came in to buy a $200 jersey.
“I am a diehard fan and season ticket holder and just to see the excitement that Jayden has brought to this team and to the city and the organization is phenomenal,” Grantham said.
The Commanders Team Store started Friday with 150 jerseys in stock and sold more than 60 within a few hours.
According to Sports Illustrated, Daniels’s was the NFL’s highest-selling jersey at the start of the month.
Fan Coinell Holmes bought several jerseys Friday to show his support for the team and the young quarterback.
“First and foremost, I am from Washington and a fan from day one and we’ve been hurting for so long and we have not had this kind of excitement since RG-3,” Holmes said. “But this is something different. Daniels is something special.”
The manager at the Commanders Team Store said he expects to sell out of Daniels’s jersey Friday night. The new black jerseys start at $200 and others cost $150.
