A GRANDMOTHER had died after being hit by a van in a Morrison’s car park as her family pay tribute to the “loving” mum.
Alicia Ternant, 69, was airlifted to hospital after the horror crash at around 1:45pm in Alnwick, Northumberland.
The great-grandmother was at the supermarket on October 29 when she was knocked down by a white Mercedes Sprinter.
She had travelled there in her blue Suzuki Swift car, which she parked in the disabled bay, police said.
The 69-year-old was reportedly using a white walking stick at the time.
Cops launched an urgent investigation into her death and have urged any witnesses to come forward.
Tributes have poured in for the “loving” mum and grandma who was described as “very active” and who lived life “to the full”.
In a statement, her devastated family said: “Alicia was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She lived life to the full and was very active, often enjoying holidays and getting out and about with her family and friends.
“Losing Alicia has been completely unexpected and, as a family, we are completely devastated she is no longer with us.”
A spokesperson from Northumbria police said: “I’d like to extend my deepest sympathies to Alicia’s loved ones while they navigate their loss. We continue to offer them our full support through specially trained family liaison officers.
“We’re renewing our appeal for witnesses and footage today, with the area believed to be busy with lots of passers-by at the time.
“At this stage, we understand Alicia had travelled to Morrisons in a blue Suzuki Swift car which was then parked up in a disabled bay before she was injured.
“Any information shared with us, no matter how small it may seem, could prove vital so we can get answers for Alicia’s family.”
