The iconic Gladstones seafood restaurant in Malibu is set to celebrate the 4th of July with a grand reopening after surviving the devastating Palisades Fire in January.

“Over 50 years of memories, and plenty more to be made…come celebrate with us as Gladstones reopens to the public July 4th! ☀️🌊,” Gladstones.Malibu posted on Facebook Wednesday.

The beachfront hangout is located just off Sunset Boulevard on Pacific Coast Highway. Co-owner Jim Harris has made posts crediting firefighters for saving the restaurant during the fire that made national headlines in January.

“Thank you for everyone asking, Gladstones has been affected but not burned down. Stay tuned for more details and we continue to pray for those around us,” a Jan. 9 post read just two days after the fire broke out.

Many other homes and businesses were not as fortunate, as the Palisades Fire ended up burning nearly 24,000 acres, destroying almost 7,000 structures. Twelve people also lost their lives in the fire, the cause of which has not been conclusively declared.

“We are heartbroken for the terrible losses this community and others throughout Southern California are facing. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. Thank you to all our brave first responders, firefighters, and heroes. From our Gladstones family to yours, please stay safe,” the restaurant posted in the days after the fire erupted.

Gladstones began preparing for its July 4 reopening by interviewing for new employees last month.
