Girl, 7, and woman, 43, killed in horror car crash near tunnel as cops appeal for dashcam video

A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD girl and a 43-year-old woman have died in a horror car crash over half-term.

They were travelling in a red Ford Fiesta which left the road at 10am on Thursday morning.

Police said the pair were declared dead at the scene on the A3 near the Hindhead Tunnel on the Surrey-Hampshire border.

Emergency services raced to the tunnel following reports of a single vehicle collision.

The A3 remained closed for several hours after the smash.

Hampshire Police confirmed their deaths today and are urging anyone with footage of the crash to come forward.

A spokesperson for the force said: “It was reported a red Ford Fiesta left the carriageway.

“The two occupants – a 43-year-old woman and a seven-year-old girl, both from Portsmouth – were both sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

“We would like to thank motorists for their patience as the A3 southbound was closed for several hours before it could be reopened.

“We would like to speak to any witnesses and in particular anyone with relevant dash cam footage of the incident or the moments leading up to it.
