(NewsNation) — Loletha Hale, a Georgia homeowner, was arrested while attempting to remove an alleged squatter from her home.
Hale joined “Morning in America” to detail why she was arrested after calling police to remove the woman from her Livingston, Georgia, home.
“I’m just not believing this, that she had the audacity to break the law to re-enter my home,” Hale said.
She added local courts and police have been unhelpful and cannot fathom why she was arrested and spent a night in jail after being charged with criminal trespassing and a misdemeanor count of terroristic threats.
“Your guess is just as good as mine,” Hale said of why she was arrested.
“I would have never imagined in a million years that not only myself but any homeowner would be arrested as a result of a squad event in their house. It’s just no logical explanation. I can’t explain it.”
Per WSB-TV, Sakemeyia Johnson has been allegedly squatting in the home but was ruled to not be a squatter by a Clayton County Magistrate Court due to Johnson’s relation to a formerly evicted tenant’s partner.
Despite a judge ruling in Hale’s favor since, she told NewsNation she is unable to go to her home until she gets a writ, and is unsure when her home will be vacated.
“I have no clue when I will be able to get back into my home,” she said.
“I did speak with the court last week, and I was informed that a hearing would be scheduled for some type of evidentiary hearing on her appeal, although she has not met any of the statutory requirements for her to have an appeal. So I don’t know why we’re having a hearing, but I’ve not received notice of a date.”
