WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The George Mason baseball team set a NCAA Division I recordTuesday , scoring 23 runs in one inning, as the Patriots toppled Holy Cross 26-6 Tuesday.
The record-breaking offensive onslaught came in the second inning. In the frame, the Patriots picked up 11 hits, walked eight times and were hit by a pitch five times. George Mason also had two stolen bases.
Incredibly, none of the 23 runs were scored via a home run.
This record breaks a 42-year-old mark set by Valparaiso (2010), Wichita State (1984) and Penn State (1983) who all had 21 runs in one inning.
George Mason has now won six games in a row.
