A five-year-old boy was left heartbroken after a “miserable git” neighbour savagely destroyed his snowman.
The grumpy pensioner who lives next door was caught on camera hacking the four-foot snow sculpture to bits in broad daylight on Monday afternoon.
Dad Steve Curtis, 35, looked on in horror after spotting the sad pensioner outside his home in Scarborough committing the act of devastation.
It was just moments after Steve had spent 45 minutes carefully building the snowman as a surprise for his five-year-old son Jacob.
To make matters worse, Jacob’s first snowman had already been cruelly knocked down earlier in the day.
Steve said: “After the heavy snow, Jacob wanted to build a snowman outside.
“It took about 45 minutes to make and it stood proudly on the pavement by the front door.”
But heartbreak struck when the family returned from a walk into town to find the snowman gone.
Steve added: “He was upset so as a surprise I thought I’d rebuild one and called it the ‘snow child’.”
Determined to keep an eye on the frosty figure, Steve set up his phone to record the spot.
What he discovered later left him stunned.
At 2.45pm, the footage shows the man brushing snow from around his car before wandering over — and slicing the snowman’s head clean off with a shovel.
Seconds later, the rest of it is smashed into slush.
Steve said: “When I finished work and came home I couldn’t believe it had happened again.
“What kind of miserable git deliberately destroys a little lad’s snowman?”
Devastated Jacob later marked the spot with a wooden cross where his snowman once stood.
Steve added: “The snowman was nowhere near his car, it wasn’t doing any harm. It’s hard to know what he was thinking.”
After Steve shared the clip online, furious viewers rushed to show their support.
One blasted: “Nasty man, should be named and shamed!”
Another fumed: “Nooooooooo !!! That’s really not going to be good for karmic energy is it??? What an absolutely gorgeous little snowman too!”
