CHARLES COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A Fredericksburg man died Tuesday after he was thrown from his motorcycle during a crash on Route 301 in Waldorf, officials said.
According to Maryland State Police (MSP), just before 5:15 p.m. on March 25, troopers, along with deputies from the Charles County Sheriff’s Office, responded to U.S. Route 301 (Crain Highway) at Holly Lane for a serious collision.
There, investigators learned that a Honda motorcycle driven by Aundre Ewings, 29, of Fredericksburg, Va., was traveling north on Route 301 approaching Holly Lane as a Chrysler was trying to cross the highway’s northbound lanes from Holly Lane.
Police said that’s when the Chrysler failed to yield to oncoming traffic and got in the way of Ewings’ motorcycle. Ewings collided with the driver’s side of the car and was ejected from the bike.
He died at the scene.
Responders took the driver of the Chrysler to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, MSP noted.
Police urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash to contact police Sgt. J. Zimmerman at (301) 392-1231 or email a statement to justin.zimmerman@maryland.gov.
MSP added that the case would be presented to the State’s Attorney’s Office for Charles County to determine the charges.
