The New England Patriots are reportedly hosting four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Stefon Diggs for a visit on Wednesday, per The Athletic’s Chad Graff.
Diggs suffered a torn ACL eight games into last season with the Houston Texans, and he is still working his way back from that injury. However, the Patriots are clearly desperate and leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to upgrade at receiver.
It was only two seasons ago when Diggs was still looked at as one of the best receivers in the league. He was still productive last season as well in a loaded Texans offense.
Before his season-ending injury, he racked up 47 receptions for 496 yards and three touchdowns. An argument could be made that he was well on his way toward a seventh consecutive 1,000-yard receiving season.
There aren’t many receiving options left for the Patriots outside of the 2025 NFL draft. One Patriots insider believes the dream still lives on for potential trades for A.J. Brown or Brandon Aiyuk.
Any hope of nabbing a talent like Brown should be a no-brainer for the Patriots, but it’s hard to envision the Philadelphia Eagles moving on from one of their top offensive playmakers after winning a Super Bowl. And like Diggs, Aiyuk is also coming off a torn ACL injury.
The only difference is Diggs is the more proven player, even if he’s four years older.
