The flag-draped casket of former U.S. President Jimmy Carter lies in state in the Capitol on Jan. 7, 2025 in Washington, DC. Carter’s body will lie in state in the Capitol Rotunda until a funeral service at the National Cathedral in Washington on Jan. 9. Carter, the 39th President of the United States, died at the age of 100 on Dec. 29, 2024 at his home in Plains, Georgia.
