Ford Motor Company is recalling more than one million vehicles due to a software error that may cause the rearview camera image to delay, freeze, or not display when the vehicle is in reverse.
The recall announcement made earlier this month on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website involves 1,075,299 vehicles, including certain Ford F-150, F-250, F-350, F-450, F-550, F-600, Edge, Transit, Bronco, Expedition, Escape, Mach-E, Mustang, Ranger and Lincoln Navigator, MKX and Corsair models.
“The center infotainment screen may freeze, followed by a black screen and a system reboot. If this occurs during a backing event, the rear-view image may be frozen, missing, or delayed,” the Safety Recall Report (SRR) stated.
Impacted vehicles include the following:

- 2023-2024 Ford Super Duty F250, F350, F450, F550, F600 (65,385 vehicles affected)
- 2021-2024 Ford Edge (157,506 vehicles affected)
- 2022-2025 Ford Transit (136,968 vehicles affected)
- 2021-2024 Ford Bronco (104,394 vehicles affected)
- 2022-2024 Ford Expedition (18,124 vehicles affected)
- 2023-2024 Ford Escape (17,909 vehicles affected)
- 2021-2023 Ford Mach-E (8,949 vehicles affected)
- 2024-2024 Ford Mustang (4,988 vehicles affected)
- 2024-2024 Ford Ranger (3,907 vehicles affected)
- 2022-2024 Lincoln Navigator (3,612 vehicles affected)
- 2021-2023 Lincoln MKX (23,468 vehicles affected)
- 2023-2024 Lincoln Corsair (2,718 vehicles affected)
The SRR indicated that improper operational sequencing within the wireless communication subsystem of the SYNC software is causing the unexpected system resets.
Owners will be notified by mail and instructed to take their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to receive the latest SYNC4 software or receive an Over-the-Air update (if equipped).
