Fleur East shared a dramatic birth story on Monday as she returned to her Hits Radio Breakfast show after seven months.
The English singer, 36, joined her radio co-host James Barr and gave listeners a detailed insight into the birth of her first child Nova – which included a twisted tale of ‘saucepans, swearing and classic Whoopi Goldberg movie, Sister Act’.
The rapper welcomed Nova, six months, in March with her husband Marcel Badiane-Robin.
Fleur told listeners: ‘So I started getting some contractions and I was in the bath, just breathing, sitting in the bubbles, loving life and measuring the contractions.
‘I knew something was happening, so I upgraded from the bath to the birthing pool which was downstairs in the living room and Marcel was filling it up using different saucepans, boiling water on the stove and bringing them in – we took it old school!

‘I was like ”this is great, baby is going to be here any minute now” then after five hours I got out of the pool, my midwife examined me, and I was 2cm dilated – that’s nothing! My face dropped and the midwife left, saying she’d come back when something started happening!
The presenter revealed things started to ramp up when Marcel and her auntie Tina, who was also a midwife, were watching some classic movies including Sister Act.
‘I was lying in my birthday suit on the floor when the midwife came back, and I was in agony. I started screaming, I started swearing and I never swear!
‘I was grabbing my Auntie Tina’s face, rolling around the floor… I went through four gas and air cannisters before they said you need to push,’ Fleur told.
‘They tricked me into getting into a squat by putting Marcel on the floor and telling me to straddle him – they knew what they were doing! – so little baby Nova came into the world on my living room floor, on top of my husband!,’ she concluded.
Fleur shared a joint post with Hits Radio official page on Instagram on Monday to celebrate the singer’s return.

‘Oh and as for the last picture…. Don’t ask.’
The X Factor runner-up looked beautiful in a khaki linen shirt set as she cradled Nova and also used Elvie’s electronic breast pump.
In July, Fleur shared pictures of herself breastfeeding her little one on the tube in honour of World Breastfeeding Week
Fleur was joined by several women who sat either side of her on the tube and were also all breastfeeding their babies and sporting #FreeTheFeed badges.
The mother of one shares her firstborn Nova with her husband Marcel, a French fashion designer.
Marcel is also a celebrity stylist and has worked with the likes of Rita Ora and Jason Derulo.
They were invited to the tube by FemTech company Elvie as part of Elvie’s existing #FreeTheFeed initiative.
#FreeTheFeed is an invitation to stand with all those women that have felt shamed or confined when breastfeeding or pumping.
Elvie began the campaign in March when, for Mother’s Day, they erected place five giant inflatable balloons across London.
