Authorities pursued the driver of a white pickup truck into downtown Los Angeles Wednesday afternoon, only to see the vehicle left behind and the driver nowhere to be found.
Sky5 picked up aerial coverage of the pursuit, which began with an allegedly stolen vehicle in Whittier, near Montecito Heights and followed the driver into downtown L.A. at about 1:45 p.m.
Though no LAPD cruisers could be seen following the vehicle, the driver sped through traffic, sometimes crossing the center line to avoid slower vehicles and nearly striking pedestrians and e-bike riders.
Around 2 p.m., the truck entered a tunnel and didn’t come out the other side, and officers found the truck abandoned there.
