Flavor Flav claimed on social media that he was kicked out of the 2024 Rockefeller Christmas Tree Lighting event in New York City on Wednesday evening.
Kelly Clarkson hosted the annual ceremony, which airs on NBC, and Backstreet Boys were there to perform.
Taking to X, the 65-year-old Flavor, born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., wrote in a now-deleted post: ‘I feel weird… I was invited to the Rockefeller Tree Lighting tonite and I was escorted to see my boys… THE BACKSTREET BOYS… and we were backstage in their dressing room… security came up to me and said: @nbc Does not want me in this area and I need to leave.’
He added in the lengthy note, ‘At the same time… their social media woman came up and asked to capture social content.
‘What did I ever do to NBC or anyone?? all I ever do is try to spread joy and love… and I think I did that for NBC at the Olympics.’
The last bit of the post was in reference to his reception at this year’s Paris Olympics, which were aired on the network.

The former VH1 personality, who starred in the reality show Flavor of Love, deleted the original tweet but followed up with a second one.
‘I deleted the tweet… but my spirit is broken,’ he wrote to his nearly 200,000 followers on the social media platform.
There’s been no word from either NBC or the Backstreet Boys following the alleged incident.
It comes after the rapper recently had to clarify comments he made about singer-songwriter Chappell Roan being ‘rude’ to fans.
He had previously suggested during an appearance on TMZ’s new Merry Elfin’ Christmas special that the pop star was making a huge ‘mistake’ in the way she treats her supporters.
And he encouraged the Hot To Go hitmaker to be more grateful.
‘Honestly, I do think it’s one of the biggest mistakes she can make because it’s all of the people that make her who she is to society,’ he said at the time. ‘If people can take their time out for you, you should be able to take your time out for them.
‘I get scared when nobody come up asking for a selfie. I get nervous! I’m like, “What did I do? I got on the right clock today?”‘

The following day, Flav explained his statement in an X post.
He admitted he didn’t know enough about Chappell’s ‘situation’ to comment and then praised the Good Luck, Babe! performer for speaking up for herself.
‘I was asked about Chappell Roan and was told that she was rude to fans,’ he shared. ‘I don’t really know her or the situation and said that it’s a mistake because it’s the fans that make us who we are.
‘BUT… if individuals are threatening her privacy or boundaries… good for her to speak up!!’
He concluded the statement by referencing her hit single Hot To Go as he signed off, ‘We are Good and Hot to Go!!’
