Firefighters stopped the forward progress of a fast-moving wind-driven brush fire in Riverside County Monday night.
Preliminary information suggests the Chambers Fire, first reported around 6 p.m. in the area of Chambers and Gilbert streets in Hemet, was burning in light brush, according to the wildfire tracking website Watch Duty.
Cal Fire crews responding to the blaze reportedly requested an additional three fire engines for a total of five and one water tender.
It is unclear how large the wildfire was or if any structures were threatened, though there were unconfirmed reports that law enforcement had been requested for traffic control and closures as flames moved toward Domenigoni Parkway.
So far, there have been no reports of evacuation orders or warnings.
The blaze broke out during yet another Santa Ana wind event in the L.A. area, which prompted the National Weather Service to issue a “particularly dangerous situation” alert, indicating a high fire danger.
