MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Several firefighters worked to extinguish a brush fire in Gaithersburg on Wednesday afternoon.
Details are limited; however, David Pazos with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said that just before 4 p.m., firefighters responded to the intersection of Brink and Wightman roads for a small brush fire in the woods.
However, the fire spread quickly in the dense trees, extending about 200 feet from the roadway.
Pazos added that about 45 firefighters were on scene working to extinguish the blaze. As of 5 p.m., no homes have been affected by the fire.
Fire officials said traffic may see delays in the area due to the firefighters’ presence and equipment.
This is a developing story.
