WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Crews worked to extinguish a fire at a home in Southeast D.C. on Sunday afternoon.
In a post on X just before 1:55 p.m., the DC Fire and EMS Department (DCFD) said firefighters responded to a fire at a single-family home in the 4300 block of Texas Ave. SE.
There, they found an outside air conditioning unit on fire, extending to the home’s second floor.
A few minutes later, firefighters said they had extinguished the blaze and were checking for extension and displacements.
The DCFD noted that there were “no initial reports of injuries.”
Due to the firefighter presence in the area, AlertDC reported a road closure in the 4300 block of Texas Ave., between E Street and Ridge Road. Drivers were encouraged to use alternative routes.
