Last summer, my wife and I were in Norway taking a tour. We took numerous ferries as part of the tour, not as sightseeing but as part of the regular transportation route. They are free to take, and I believe cheaper than constructing a bridge. Nova Scotia also has ferries as a part of their road system.
I commute to Annapolis, and the traffic at the two tunnels is much worse since the Key Bridge collapsed (Should ferries be used while we wait on a new Key Bridge? Aug. 21). A ferry, even if temporary, between Baltimore and Anne Arundel counties would relieve tunnel traffic, reduce vehicle emissions and add to the state’s coffers. It may even become a tourist attraction.
