FCC asks for public input on local broadcast regulations

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is asking the public to help rethink its regulation of local broadcasters.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr announced the “Delete, delete, delete” initiative last month, urging citizens to suggest which regulations should be revised or eliminated.

“For too long, administrative agencies have added new regulatory requirements in excess of their authority or kept lawful regulations in place long after their shelf life had expired,” Carr said. “The FCC is committed to ending all of the rules and regulations that are no longer necessary. And we welcome the public’s participation and feedback throughout this process.”

The FCC, which regulates media and telecommunications companies, is accepting comments from the public through April 14.
