A 36-year-old Palmdale area was arrested several weeks after a homicide investigation was opened into the death of his 4-year-old son, authorities announced Thursday.
The investigation into the “suspicious death” of the unidentified boy began on Dec. 3, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department stated.
Investigators determined that the child’s death resulted from an assault but did not provide further details about the incident.
On Tuesday, homicide investigators arrested the child’s father, identified as Andrew Havrella, and 25-year-old Lacie Fetters, who was described as Havrella’s “female companion.”
Both were booked on suspicion of child assault resulting in death, and child abuse, the Sheriff’s Department stated.
The case has been presented to the L.A. County District Attorney’s Office to determine whether charges will be filed.
