No “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” here.

On Thursday, Green Day’s legacy was laid out on the streets of Hollywood. The Bay Area band received the 2,810th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the recording academy.

Band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool were on hand to receive the honor. The punk rock trio ranks among the world’s best-selling bands with over 75 million records sold and 10 billion streams.

Actor Ryan Reynolds served as one of the guest speakers for the event. He talked about how he reached out to the band to use their hit “Good Riddance” for “Deadpool and Wolverine.” Amid his jokes, he praised the band’s “integrity,” among their long list of accomplishments and accolades.

“I don’t think a band like this stays together, this way, and is this prolific this long without integrity and I think it’s like the bedrock of who they are,” he explained. “Spoken out loud or not, there’s respect and there’s integrity in the DNA of this band. It comes across in their sense of mischief and their sense of play. It’s embedded in their musical works of art.”

After the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declared Thursday as Green Day Day, the band took to the podium to thank their fans, family, all those who work behind-the-scenes with them and each other.

Dirnt thanked Armstrong’s mom for giving him a “safe place to live” and band practice during their early days. Armstrong said the ceremony was his mom’s “Super Bowl.”

Right before the ceremony, Sky 5 captured a long line of fans awaiting the ceremony.

“Closed down the street,” Cool exclaimed. “Mission: Accomplished.

“Thanks again to anyone who has ever put a needle on a Green Day record or clicked a mouse and listened to Green Day, and come to a Green Day show,” he continued.

Green Day’s star is located right outside of Amoeba Records at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Argyle Avenue.
