A famous comedian was arrested on a drug charge in Burbank on Friday night.

According to Burbank Police Department Sgt. Stephen Turner, Paul Rodriguez was a passenger in a car that was stopped for vehicle code violations around 7:30 p.m.; the exact location of the traffic stop was not disclosed.

During the investigation, officers discovered narcotics in the car, Sgt. Turner said, which led to Rodriguez’s arrest.

He got his break as an opening act at various shows and went on to appear as a warm-up comic on Norman Lear’s short-lived “Gloria” sitcom in 1982.
