An investigation is underway after a deputy responding to a San Bernardino County home was involved in a shooting that left one person hospitalized late Monday night.
The deputies were called to the home in the 10700 block of Central Road in Apple Valley around 10 p.m.
The nature of the call was unknown but a spokesperson for the S.B. County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that at some point a lethal force encounter occurred and a male was struck.
The wounded individual was transported to a local hospital in unknown condition.

The spokesperson did not confirm the age or identity of the wounded person but a family member identified him as Elisha Brown. The family member said Brown was 16 or 17 years old and was airlifted to the hospital.
The relative also shared footage with KTLA that shows a deputy ringing the doorbell. After several moments a group of people rush out of the front door and the deputy fires, striking Brown.
The Sheriff’s Department has not confirmed any details surrounding the shooting but said the investigation is ongoing and additional information will be released.
