MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — A family is without a home just before the holidays after a tree fell onto a house in Takoma Park on Saturday.
In a post on X at 3:10 p.m., Pete Piringer with the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) said crews were on the scene after a tree fell into a home in the 500 block of New York Avenue.
The tree struck the corner of the house, near the chimney. Piringer noted that there was an active fire in the fireplace at the time.
Those who were inside made it out safely without injury. However, two adults, two dogs and two cats were displaced, according to Piringer.
As a result of the incident, some wires were down, and the road was partially blocked.
