FAKE NHS uniforms are being sold online — sparking fears criminals can impersonate medical staff.
Unofficial fleeces with an NHS logo can be personalised to include a name.
The Sun on Sunday found clothing being sold for £20 on TikTok, eBay, Amazon and Etsy.
Many listings claim discounted prices and one on Amazon wrongly says the £32.99 jumper “complies with NHS Identity Guidelines”.
But staff appear to be among buyers, despite trusts spending about £23million a year on uniforms.
One assistant admitted: “I’m waiting ages for a jacket so I thought I’d buy one.”
A Nursing and Midwifery Council spokesperson said: “It’s vital patients are not misled about somebody’s status as a health or care professional.”
Shadow Health Secretary Stuart Andrew wants regulation, saying: “There’s a risk they could be used to impersonate staff.”
The Department for Health and Social Care said: “We take unauthorised use of the NHS name very seriously.”
