TIM Walz broke down in tears as Kamala Harris gave an emotional speech after losing the 2024 presidential election to Donald Trump.
Harris broke her silence to address her loss on Wednesday evening as dozens in the crowd were seen crying and wearing sunglasses during her concession speech.
Walz, 60, was seen crying with his hand over his heart during the remarks at Howard University in Washington, DC.
The Minnesota governor stood next to his wife, Gwen, and daughter, Hope, who both donned sunglasses.
Harris’ stepdaughter Ella Emhoff was also seen weeping in the crowd.
The vice president spoke for about 12 minutes, comforting her devastated supporters after Trump’s landslide victory.

It comes as…
- Harris conceded in a phone call to Trump on Wednesday after refusing to speak to the media as he took the lead
- She finally emerged from hiding for a 4 pm ET concession speech where her VP pick Tim Walz was seen crying
- President Joe Biden also called Trump and invited him to the White House

As Harris spoke, Walz’s tearful reaction sparked a flurry of comments from viewers on social media.
“Tim Walz looks gutted,” one noted on X.
“Seeing Tim Walz’s daughter crying like she was crushing my heart even more,” another wrote.
However, others were quick to slam Walz’s display.
“Tim Walz crying at Kamala’s speech may be the most pathetic thing I’ve seen in this election,” one X user bashed.
Another wrote, “[Tim] Walz is crying, man we really dodged a bullet with this one. This is incredibly unsettling.”
Walz didn’t speak during the event, leaving Harris to address her supporters alone as she promised to keep fighting for America.
Harris appeared to choke up during the speech as she spoke about her gratitude for her team and her supporters during the campaign, which began just months ago when President Joe Biden withdrew from the race.
Biden and his wife, Dr. Jill Biden, were notably absent from the speech.
The address came after Harris called Trump and conceded, asking him for a peaceful transition of power.
She asked her supporters during the speech to accept the election results.
“Earlier today, I spoke with President-elect Trump and congratulated him on his victory,” she said.
When Harris mentioned Trump’s name, the crowd erupted in boos.
“I also told him that we will help him and his team with their transition and that we will engage in a peaceful transfer of power,” Harris added.
OBAMAS SHARE STATEMENT
While Biden was absent from the concession speech, former President Barack Obama shared a statement after spending multiple weeks on the campaign trail with Harris.
“This is obviously not the outcome we had hoped for, given our profound disagreements with the Republican ticket on a whole host of issues,” the statement from Barack and Michelle Obama said.
“But living in a democracy is about recognizing that our point of view won’t always win out, and being willing to accept the peaceful transfer of power.”
After congratulating Trump and his running mate JD Vance, the Obamas said they were proud of Harris and Walz.
They shared in the statement that the Democrats are “two extraordinary public servants who ran a remarkable campaign.”
