Authorities in Ventura County are investigating the deaths of a 91-year-old man and his 89-year-old wife who were shot and killed in an apparent murder-suicide.
Around 2:25 p.m. Thursday, Ventura County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a home on Brea Court in Camarillo after a man called 911 to report he had just shot and killed his wife and was about to take his own life.
When deputies arrived at the home and went inside, they found the bodies of 91-year-old Kendall Conger and his wife, 89-year-old Kay Conger, both suffering from gunshot wounds.
“Life saving measures were attempted, but the subjects were declared deceased at the scene,” the Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release issued Friday afternoon.
Details remain extremely limited in the investigation, but law enforcement officials said it appeared to be an isolated incident and there is no active threat to the public.
Anyone with information about the case is urged to contact VCSO Detective DeLaCerda at 805 384-4724.
