Dunkin’ customers will no longer be charged extra for requesting non-dairy milk in their drinks.
Beginning March 5, dairy alternatives will be standard options for Dunkin’ beverages at no additional cost to guests, a spokesperson from the Massachusetts-based coffee chain told multiple media outlets.
“This will allow guests visiting any Dunkin’ location to enjoy traditional dairy or alternative dairy options in any beverage without an additional charge,” the spokesperson said.
The policy change was guided by guest feedback, according to the company.
Dunkin will soon join other coffee chains like Starbucks, Dutch Bros, Tim Hortons and Scooter’s, who have also stopped charging customers extra for non-diary milk, according to the Center for Responsible Food Business.
The change came after a class-action lawsuit against Dunkin was filed in December. According to USA Today, the lawsuit accused the company of discriminating against lactose-intolerant customers by charging extra for non-dairy milk.
