Officials are asking for the public’s help identifying a man suspected of shooting at a drone pilot in the San Gabriel Mountains on Wednesday.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department described the suspect as a man with a light complexion and a beard or goatee who seems to be between the ages of 20 and 25.
“Suspect should be considered armed and dangerous,” noted LASD in an X post on Thursday.
The sheriff’s department said that the suspect fired several rounds from a semi-automatic handgun at the victim while he was flying his drone at a turnout in the San Gabriel Mountains.
Officials did not immediately say whether the victim was hit or suffered any injuries as a result.
After shooting at the drone pilot, the suspect drove off in a light blue or green Toyota Camry that LASD estimated was made in 2002-2006.
Photos of the suspect’s car also show paint oxidation on the roof, DMV paper on the rear window and black rims.
The suspect’s car was last seen heading south on Highway 39 before he went out of view, the sheriff’s department added.
LASD also provided photos of the suspect that show him carrying and pointing the handgun at the victim.
He was last seen wearing a checkered flannel shirt with a black hood, light grey pants and red and white high top tennis shoes.
Anyone with information that could help this investigation is encouraged to reach out to LASD.
