Netflix has rounded out cast for its new scripted series Breakers (aka Red Bluff). Emmy-nominated D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai (Reservation Dogs), Annabel Wolfe (Surviving Summer) and Oliver Edis (Gnomes) have been set as series regulars alongside previously announced lead and executive producer Antony Starr. The series comes from writer-executive producer Pete Jackson (Somewhere Boy, The Death of Bunny Munro) and Clerkenwell Films (Baby Reindeer, The End Of The F***ing World). Production is underway in Western Australia and will wrap in June 2026.

Breakers follows two best friends from the U.S. who go backpacking in Australia and are soon drawn into a seemingly perfect community of surfers led by a charismatic but mysterious figure, Brando, played by Starr.

Woon-A-Tai plays Elliot, Edis portrays Flynn and Wolfe plays Harper, alongside Starr’s Brando.

Also joining as support cast are Asher Yasbincek as Maggie (Heartbreak High), David Howell as Iggy (Run, The Narrow Road To The Deep North), Tyroe Muhafidin as Danno (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power), Tom Dawson as Don (Tenzing), Sherry-Lee Watson as Astrid (Heartbeak High), Lu Miller as Amara (Nansie), Eliza Learmonth as Clementine (Baby Shower), and Brodie Townsend as Kurt (Heartbreak High).

New Zealand-born Starr and Brit Jackson executive produce alongside Clerkenwell Films’ Gavin O’Grady, Petra Fried and Wim De Greef. Mary Nighy (Say Nothing, Industry) and Ng Choon Ping (What It Feels Like For A Girl, Femme) are directing. Clerkenwell Films, part of BBC Studios, is producing in partnership with BBC Studios Productions Australia.

Breakers is the first Netflix series to shoot in Western Australia where it is supported by Screenwest and the WA Government through the Western Australian Production Attraction Incentive.

Woon-A-Tai made history with his 2024 Emmy nomination for outstanding actor in a comedy series for Reservation Dogs, becoming the first Indigenous actor ever nominated in a lead acting category. For his performance as Bear Smallhill in the critically acclaimed FX series, Woon-A-Tai also received two Critics Choice Award nominations for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. Most recently, Woon-A-Tai starred in Alex Garland’s A24 film Warfare and appears in Darren Aronofsky’s latest feature, Caught Stealing. He recently wrapped production on Andrew Haigh’s upcoming feature A Long Winter. He’s repped by Gersh, The Characters Talent Agency and David Dean Management.

Edis is repped by Morrissey Management and Brave Artists Management.

Wolfe is repped by RGM Artists and Echo Lake Entertainment.
