Donald Trump has named his campaign manager Susie Wiles as his next White House chief of staff, the first major position that the president-elect has announced since his election on Tuesday.
Trump said in a statement, “Susie Wiles just helped me achieve one of the greatest political victories in American history, and was an integral part of both my 2016 and 2020 successful campaigns. Susie is tough, smart, innovative, and is universally admired and respected. Susie will continue to work tirelessly to Make America Great Again. It is a well deserved honor to have Susie as the first-ever female Chief of Staff in United States history. I have no doubt that she will make our country proud.”
Wiles appeared with Trump on stage at his election night victory celebration, but she was the only one on stage who did not speak.
Along with Chris LaCivita, Wiles was credited with running a more disciplined campaign operation that Trump’s first run, even as the candidate himself often strayed from message.
Wiles worked on Trump’s 2016 campaign, and she led the former president’s Save America PAC starting in 2021. She also has worked for Ron DeSantis, Rick Scott and Jon Huntsman. She is the daughter of late sportscaster Pat Summerall.
