A dog died in a fire early Sunday evening as SoCal got battered by a winter storm.
The blaze was first reported shortly after 5 p.m. in the 5300 block of West 1st Street, an Orange County Fire Authority spokesperson said.
Video posted to social media by the department shows active flames and smoke rising into the sky as several people ran away from the home. According to OCFA, the fire broke out in a structure in the backyard of the home.

The footage, taken from the dashcam inside a responding fire unit, indicated it was raining lightly when the fire erupted.
Responding firefighters were able to knock down the fire quickly with no injuries reported; however, OCFA confirmed that a dog died in the blaze.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
