The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to be without last year’s World Series MVP on Monday, and his injury didn’t occur on the field.
According to The Athletic’s Fabian Ardaya, Freddie Freeman will miss Monday night’s game at Dodger Stadium against the Atlanta Braves — his former team of 12 years — after a “mishap” he had in the shower at home.
Ardaya says Freeman tweaked his right ankle, the same ankle that was surgically repaired in December. He initially injured it in late September but returned to action in the playoffs, despite it noticeably bothering him throughout. Freeman rallied to hit four home runs in four straight World Series games, including a historic walk-off grand slam against the New York Yankees in Game 1.
The extent of his new injury remains unclear as of Monday afternoon. Ardaya says he’ll be day-to-day. Freeman missed the season opener in Japan just a couple of weeks ago due to rib discomfort.
The Orange County native has had a hot start to the season, hitting two home runs in 12 at-bats in 2025.
L.A. is 5-0 heading into the three-game series against the Braves (0-4).
