He crossed lanes at high speed to overtake or undertake on the A3 on the outskirts of London.

Tests showed Rabindran, a locum at St Peter’s Hospital, Chertsey, Surrey, was one and a half times the alcohol limit.

He was later given a suspended jail term and a year’s driving ban.

Now, he has been found guilty of misconduct and suspended from practising for seven months.

Rabindran told a tribunal in Manchester he had two drinks with a colleague and was hurrying to get home to bed.

He added: “My actions were very silly. This has taught me a lot.”

‘‘My career is in jeopardy”, he told the tribunal.

”I came to the UK from Germany and worked hard to qualify as a doctor so don’t want to throw that away. My parents spent a lot of money on my education. My career is who I am.

“My actions were very silly – this incident has taught me a lot – I will now stay under the speed limit. My conviction has caused a lot of hardship.”
