WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Here are our rankings for the top 25 high school football teams in Washington, D.C., Maryland and northern Virginia. List comprised by the DC News Now sports department. Updated as of Thursday at 5 p.m.
1. Madison (5-0) – Last week: 1
Madison improves to 5-0 on the season after a 43-13 blowout win over Chantilly.
2. Quince Orchard (4-0) – Last week: 3
QO blanks Churchill 28-0. The Cougars with back-to-back shut out victories.
3. Riverdale Baptist (5-0) – Last week: 4
Riverdale Baptist picks up a forfeit win over St. Mary’s Ryken.
4. DeMatha (3-1) – Last week: 5
The Stags get an impressive 20-14 win over nationally-ranked Washington from Massillon, Ohio.
5. St. John’s (3-1) – Last week: 6
St. John’s picked up a 14-6 win over Friendship Collegiate Saturday. The defense allowed no points, as the Cadets move into our top five.
6. Hayfield (4-0) – Last week: 8
Hayfield continues to dominate their opponents. They destroy South County 63-0. The Hawks have outscored their four opponents 246-7.
7. Friendship Collegiate (4-1) – Last week: 2
Friendship lost their first game of the year to No. 5 St. John’s 14-6. The Knights fall five spots in our rankings to No. 7.
8. Northwest (4-0) – Last week: 9
Northwest has yet to let up a single point. They defeated Seneca Valley 27-0 to improve to 4-0.
9. Gonzaga (4-1) – Last week: 7
Gonzaga lost in a tough, down to the wire game vs. Malvern Prep (PA) 13-7. It’s the Eagles first loss on the season.
10. Battlefield (5-0) – Last week: 10
Battlefield picks up another blowout win to remain in the top ten of our rankings.
11. Wise (3-1) – Last week: 11
Wise wins their third straight game, destroying Oxon Hill 56-6.
12. Good Counsel (2-3) – Last week: 13
Good Counsel defeat Stone Bridge 48-10. The Falcons beginning to look like their old self as they have one more game before starting WCAC play.
13. C.H. Flowers (3-1) – Last week: 12
Flowers cruised to a 26-0 shut out win over DuVal.
14. Linganore (4-0) – Last week: 14
Linganore took care of business last week, defeating Oakdale 28-12.
15. Dunbar (4-1) – Last week: 15
Dunbar bounced back from their close loss to Friendship, defeating Coolidge 27-6.
16. Middletown (4-0) – Last week: 16
Middletown remain undefeated, blanking Boonsboro 36-0.
17. Theodore Roosevelt (4-0) – Last week: 17
Roosevelt improves to 4-0 after a 27-12 win over Anacostia.
18. Washington-Liberty (5-0) – Last week: 18
The Generals get to 5-0 on the season after defeating Falls Church 49-14. W-L has scored 40+ points in every game this year.
19. John Champe (5-0) – Last week: 19
John Champe cruises to another victory, as they defeated Heritage 49-21.
20. Westfield (3-1) – Last week: 20
Westfield puts on an offensive clinic, defeating Justice 71-0.
21. Lake Braddock (3-2) – Last week: 22
Lake Braddock gets back above .500 on the season, defeating Fairfax 35-21.
22. Blair (4-0) – Last week: 23
Blair remains unblemished, defeating Einstein easily 27-2. They get No. 2 Quince Orchard on Friday.
23. Bethesda-Chevy Chase (4-0) – Last week: 24
BCC takes care of Kennedy 46-0. Now, they get their first big test, as they host No. 8 Northwest Friday.
24. Sherwood (3-1) – Last week: honorable mention
Sherwood cracks the top 25 after their impressive 24-0 win over Blake in our Game of the Week.
25. Langley (5-0) – Last week: honorable mention
Langley is 5-0 for the first time in program history! They will look to extend the win streak Friday as they host George Marshall in our Game of the Week.
