With the Christmas holiday coming to a close, it is time to get rid of your live Christmas tree.
When taking down your Christmas decorations, it is important to dispose of your live tree correctly, as a dry Christmas tree can be a fire hazard.
According to the National Fire Protection Association, dried-out trees are a fire danger and should not be left in the home or garage or placed outside against the home.
While Christmas tree fires are not necessarily common, they can grow very quickly.
Most cities will coordinate a “greenery collection” at the end of the year to collect Christmas trees from neighborhoods.
Whether you are dropping off at your county’s Christmas tree collection sites or placing it at the curb, remember to remove all ornaments, lights, tinsel, wire, stand, as well as the tree bag.
