Disney Movie Insiders have three months to use their remaining points as the long-running loyalty program is set to shutter this year.
On Saturday, Disney announced that the program will end in December after 18 years, during which fans could earn and redeem points by submitting eligible tickets for Disney, Marvel Studios, Star Wars and Pixar movies, as well as by linking their Disney+ subscriptions.
“As a valued Member, we would like to inform you that Disney Movie Insiders will be sunset as of December 4th, 2024,” an announcement on the website reads. “Our members’ passion for content across The Walt Disney Studios has always been at the heart of our program. We are incredibly grateful for your participation in the program and enthusiasm over the years.
“Over the coming weeks, we encourage you to redeem your points for rewards from our collection. Points can continue to be used on a variety of offerings, including posters, movies, Disney Gift Cards, sweepstakes, and more. We greatly appreciate your loyalty, support and understanding.”
Although Dec. 3 is the last day to redeem points, Sept. 6 will be the final day program users can earn points.
Meanwhile, the Disney+ Perks program will launch in 2025 for subscribers of the streaming platform.
The end of the Movie Insiders program comes days after Disney announced the shutdown of its TV Everywhere apps like FX Now, ABC, Disney Now, Nat Geo TV and Freeform. Pay TV customers will still be able to log into the websites via computer to watch on-demand programming. Access to the apps will end on Sept. 23, during which subscribers will need Hulu or Disney+ to continue streaming on their phones, tablets and smart TVs.
