WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Dion Jordan announced Wednesday that he is joining the race for Washington, D.C.’s Ward 8 Council seat in the special election.
The D.C. native and longtime Ward 8 resident, previously served on the Advisory Neighborhood Commissions (ANC) Commissioner of Single Member District 8C02 and was a Constituent Services Representative in the Office of the Public Advocate.
While the ANC Commissioner of Single Member District 8C02 and Chairman of ANC, Jordan played a role in advocating for deployment at St. Elizabeths East, ensuring local businesses and residents benefit from economic growth.
His leadership also extends to “Go-Go and Vote,” an initiative that blends the Go-Go culture with civic engagement to increase voter participation across the District.
“Ward 8 deserves leadership that truly understands the struggles and strengths of our community,” said Jordan. “For years, I’ve worked to bring jobs, resources, and opportunities to our residents. Now, I’m ready to take that fight to the Council to make real change happen.”
In the announcement, Jordan noted his campaign will focus on engaging residents through listening sessions, community events, and voter registration drives to ensure that every voice is heard.
The special election will be held on July 15.
