Diana Vickers has branded mama’s boys a ‘bloody nightmare’ – revealing her horror at ex-boyfriends who would cuddle their mothers in front of her.

The X-factor singer, 34, didn’t hold back about the ‘scary’ power mums can wield over their grown-up sons on Metro’s Just Between Us podcast.

Speaking to co-host Alice Giddings, Vickers admitted she has ‘really felt’ the suffocating presence of overbearing mothers looming over her past relationships.

Vickers and Giddings tackled the explosive topic while advising a listener whose family had rejected his new boyfriend.

‘I get very worried when someone new comes into my life, wondering whether I’ll get on with their mother’, the singer said.

‘Boys and their bloody mothers – it’s a nightmare!

‘It’s scary – I’ve felt it before and it’s a really hard one to know how to deal with.

‘You see these videos on social media of gender reveals – the boy always runs to their mum first. No! Go to your partner first!

‘I’ve had boyfriends before, where I have gone to meet their parents – gone maybe to theirs for the weekend – and they’ve been sitting in front of me cuddling their mum.

‘Sometimes I feel like saying – get up! I’m over here! Stop cuddling your mum!

‘I love giving my mum a cuddle, but I’ll always go back to my partner… these boys cuddle their mum for an uncomfortable amount of time.

‘I feel like saying: you’re done now. Sit with me and put your arms around me.’

Sex columnist Giddings agreed, revealing how ‘boy mums’ make her skin crawl.

Giddings said: ‘The boy mum is a real stereotype – and it’s a bit scary. They’re a special breed.

‘For example, there’s a TikTok trend going around – where people share a thing that keeps popping into their heads.

‘A woman posted this video: she was filming because she was in active labour. No word of a lie, her partner was asleep on a bed beside her, practically spooning his mother,

‘You’re giving birth, and your husband is sleeping with his mother. They may as well have been a couple.’

But Giddings warned that it’s not only mothers that can cause problems in their children’s relationships.

The sex columnist revealed she hasn’t spoken to her own father in almost a year after he refused to accept her partner.

‘My whole family loves my partner, but when my dad met him – he told me that they’re chalk and cheese.

‘I was so bewildered because this boy is the love of my life, and everyone adores him. He’s this cheeky chappy. He’s got charisma.

‘It’s so frustrating when someone you love so much, who has been in your life since you were born, won’t just put their differences aside and make your life easy by being nice to someone who’s been nothing but wonderful.

‘It really hurt me… unfortunately, we don’t talk anymore. It’s been going on for a year. Our relationship just disintegrated.’
