After a nearly month-long delay due to the recent wildfires, the Kingdom Day Parade celebrated its 40th iteration on Monday.
Normally held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day — Jan. 20 this year — the parade instead took to the South Los Angeles streets on Presidents’ Day.
Despite the different date, the positive energy was there like it always is, said as KTLA anchor Chris Schauble, who participated alongside several KTLA 5 News employees.
“The love that we feel from the community, the love that we get to show them back, it’s what this day is all about,” said Schauble.
