ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. (DC News Now) — Deputies said they are searching for a man after he was in illegal possession of 80 firearms, including multiple 3D-printed “ghost guns” in St. Mary’s County.
According to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office, on Nov. 7 at around 9:20 p.m., deputies responded to a reported domestic assault at a home in the 20000 block of Goddard Road in Lexington Park.
The suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jerod Adam Taylor, allegedly fled the scene before deputies arrived.
Deputies said they began investigating and learned that Taylor had multiple guns, which they found in plain view in the residence. Taylor is barred from owning firearms due to prior convictions. He is also wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for theft.
The next day, detectives executed search warrants at the residence and nearby vehicles, in which they recovered multiple 3D-printed ghost guns (guns without serial numbers), semi-automatic rifles, handguns, shotguns, an “assortment of firearm components” and an AK-47 semi-automatic rifle, according to the sheriff’s office.
They also found several large-capacity magazines, 74 auto sears (devices that convert semi-automatic guns to fully automatic), body armor, over 1,3000 rounds of ammunition and more.
Overall, deputies said they recovered 80 firearms in the search.
As a result, authorities charged Taylor with illegal possession of ammunition, second-degree assault, unlawful possession of an assault weapon with intent to sell, possession of a machine gun for an aggressive purpose and other related charges.
The sheriff’s office has yet to locate Taylor. However, Deputies said that he should be considered armed and dangerous and that anyone who spots him should not approach him but should call 911.
Police also encourage anyone with information to contact detective David Lawrence at 301-475-4200, extension 8130, or at [email protected].
