EXCLUSIVE: Golden Globe nominee Dennis Haysbert (24) has been tapped for a supporting role in Send Help, Sam Raimi’s survival horror thriller for 20th Century Studios.
Character details are under wraps. Haysbert joins an ensemble also including the previously announced Rachel McAdams, Dylan O’Brien, and Chris Pang.
Based on an original script by Baywatch scribes Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, Send Help is about two colleagues who become stranded on a deserted island, the only survivors of a plane crash. On the island, they must overcome past grievances and work together to survive, but ultimately, it’s a battle of wills and wits to make it out alive.
Expected to be released in theaters, the film’s producers are Raimi and Zainab Azizi of Raimi Productions.
Perhaps best known for roles on the series 24 and The Unit, as well as turns in such classic films as Heat and Far from Heaven, Haysbert has recently been seen in Roadside Attractions’ Summer Camp and Eva Longoria’s directorial debut Flamin’ Hot, the Searchlight title released simultaneously on Hulu and Disney+. Among his other upcoming projects is the action-drama American Smuggler, on which he’s an executive producer.
Haysbert is represented by Independent Artist Group, GS Management, and Jackoway Austen Tyerman.
