A group of demonstrators was seen in downtown Los Angeles on Monday afternoon protesting with Donald Trump and Elon Musk effigies hours after the former was sworn in as the 47th President of the United States.
Video posted to the Citizen App shows the protesters at Hill and 6th streets near the International Jewelry Plaza with banners reading “Full relief for fire victims now!” and “We fight back for women’s liberation!” as well as “Workers should have power, not the billionaires!” and “Defend immigrant families!”
Multiple individuals were seen waving Palestinian flags as police blocked off the street; the demonstrators also had a truck with speakers set up next to it.
More footage posted to Citizen shows effigies of Trump and Musk with mock signs held by arrestees in mugshots. As of Monday, Musk serves as the Administrator of the U.S. Department of Government Efficiency.
The signs read “Los Angeles, CA; We fight back” and had a fake prisoner number of “#01202025,” signifying the date of the inauguration.
It is uncertain whether anyone was detained by police, but an LAPD official told KTLA that they received no calls regarding unrest.
