THE suspected shooter who opened fire on two National Guardsmen mere blocks away from the white House has been pictured for the first time.
Afghanistan native Rahmanullah Lakanwal drove across the country to attack newly sworn-in guardsmen Andrew Wolfe, 24, and Sarah Backstrom, 20, prosecutors said Thursday.
The victims are fighting for their lives in the hospital while Lakanwal, who was also struck by gunfire, is expected to recover.
The gunman was taken down just minutes after allegedly carrying out the targeted shooting in Washington DC at around 2:30 pm on Wednesday.
Federal officials gathered on Thanksgiving morning to share heartbreak for the families of the victims and provide new details about the suspect.
US Attorney Jeanine Pirro blasted President Joe Biden, as she says Lakanwal came to America through Operation Allies Welcome.
The program was started in 2021 to assist “vulnerable Afghans” who were affected by the collapse of the Afghan government.
