WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — D.C. police said multiple people were arrested after a barricade situation happened inside a Navy Yard apartment early Thursday morning.
Just before 1 a.m. officers from the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) were called to an apartment complex in the 1100 block of First Street in Southeast for a report of a burglary.
The victim said multiple people came into their apartment and demanded their things but realized they had gone into the wrong unit and left without taking stuff.
The group then went into the neighboring apartment unit.
When officers arrived, the group was still inside that apartment and declared it a barricade.
MPD’s Emergency Response Team responded to the scene and after several hours, a search warrant was obtained and executed.
Officers forced the door open and inside, they found the victim, who was being held against his will, along with all the suspects.
MPD arrested Samir Michael, 28, Keshaun Seltzer, 18, a 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy.
They were all charged with Burglary One and While Armed and Kidnapping.
Officers found seven weapons inside the apartment along with a large amount of various illegal drugs.
Because of that, the tenant, Amenuel Shewaferahu, 31, was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute While Armed and Unregistered Firearm.
